Music Map
An interactive map of ~700,000 songs laid out by who co-listens to them, built from a million Spotify playlists. It is the same idea genomics runs on a cells-by-genes matrix: a playlist is a cell, a song is a gene, popularity is detection rate, and playlist length is sequencing depth. The same tools apply (TF-IDF/LSI, Pearson residuals, nearest-neighbor graphs), and the within-group enrichment that pooled CRISPR screens use as a quality check shows songs cluster by artist much as perturbations cluster by protein complex.
